From 27 June to 13 July, the Alamire Foundation welcomes Jennifer Bloxam, Professor of Music Emerita at Williams College (USA), in the House of Polyphony as part of a residency.

Continuing a close collaboration with the Alamire Foundation that has been ongoing for many years now, she will join the vocal ensemble Cappella Pratensis and the wind ensemble I Fedeli, together with organist Wim Diepenhorst, to explore Jacob Obrecht’s Missa Sub tuum praesidium, culminating in a brand new scholarly performance this summer during Laus Polyphoniae.

The scientific research and valorization of this Antwerp creation will be studied in depth during several lab sessions. The Mass was most likely performed during the liturgy for the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. Bloxam will guide the musicians and practice researchers in contextualizing this music, taking into account the particular origin and uses of this exceptional polyphony. The residency is a stepping stone to Cappella Pratensis and I Fedeli's concert during Laus Polyphoniae on 19 August, when the ensembles will perform Obrecht’s Mass in St Paul's Church, Antwerp. On 5 July, Bloxam will also give a lecture on the Den Bosch Alamire Choirbooks at the festival The Big Sing in Haarlem.
