The monograph, Birgittine Chantscapes: Chant and Liturgy in the Order of St Birgitta of Sweden (14th-21st century) was recently published.

This study is by Karin Lagergren, professor at Linnaeus University in Sweden and research associate at the Alamire Foundation. Lagergren has conducted extensive research into the liturgy and accompanying chants of the Birgittine monastic order. She has examined the music, design, and structure of liturgical books from various abbeys in Vadstena (SE), Uden (NL), Dendermonde (BE), and Altomünster (GE), based on research conducted in part under the auspices of the Alamire Foundation.

During her residency in Leuven as part of the FWO/SBO project The Sound of Music, Lagergren finalized this publication. With this book, she offers the first comprehensive study of the Birgittine liturgy and chant after the Middle Ages, shedding light on several previously unexplored sources.
