From 30 March to 21 April, the Alamire Foundation once again welcomes researcher and musician Scott Metcalfe for a residency.
During his previous stay in Leuven, he worked on a critical edition of the chansons of Binchois. To finalize this publication and gain practice‑based insights, Metcalfe will test his ideas during several musical labs at the House of Polyphony. In addition to the critical edition itself, this research will also result in a new series of mini‑documentaries on alamire.tv this summer, in which Metcalfe and Sean Gallagher (New England Conservatory of Music, US) take an in‑depth look at the complete song repertoire of this important Franco‑Flemish composer. This project will be part of the Strategic Basic Research New Perspectives on Medieval and Renaissance Courtly Song, funded by the FWO. Following the well-received Leuven Chansonnier in Perspective series, alamire.tv fans are looking forward to this latest offering
