In June 2024, as part of celebrations leading up to Flanders Day on July 11, the Alamire Foundation organized a concert featuring the Huelgas Ensemble in the historic Church of Saints Simon and Jude in Prague, in collaboration with the Flemish Diplomatic Representation in the Czech Republic. The concert evening marked the prelude to the thirtieth anniversary of Concentus Moraviae in 2025.
This jubilee edition of the Czech music festival will be largely devoted to music and musicians from Flanders. Top ensembles will pay tribute to the rich repertoire that dominated the musical landscape of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, including the Franco-Flemish polyphonic song. On June 5, the vocal-instrumental Sollazzo Ensemble will present the musical heritage of the Low Countries, based on the ongoing research into the Leuven Chansonnier. A day later, the ensemble travels on to Bratislava, where it will perform the music from this fifteenth-century songbook during the Days of Early Music. Alamire Foundation staff member Stef Coninx will also give a lecture on the historical and musical significance of the Leuven Chansonnier.
The final chord of this European tour will sound in Regensburg during the fortieth edition of the Tage Alter Musik. For this festive edition, general director Bart Demuyt wrote the introductory text and ensembles in residence at the House of Polyphony, Cappella Pratensis and Sollazzo Ensemble, will perform their programme entitled The Feast of the Swan—the fourth installment of the project on the Den Bosch Choirbooks in collaboration with the Alamire Foundation. On the initiative of Katelijne Schiltz from the University of Regensburg, the festival will also host an interdisciplinary conference on Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. In his lecture Der Tod Palestrinas, Alamire Foundation staff member and co-organizer of the conference, Antonio Chemotti, will present a portrait of this enigmatic composer. The Alamire Foundation will also have a prominent presence at the specialized trade fair in the historic Salzstadel, as the Alamire Academic Press will showcase its academic publications, facsimiles, and CD releases.
