On 24 September, an international jury announced the joyous news that Leuven will be named European Capital of Culture in 2030.

Under the project name ‘LOV 2030’, Leuven and its surrounding communities will be the stage for a rich program of cultural events. The jury was convinced by the Leuven project during a visit to the city on 17 September. During this visit, they also stopped by the Alamire Foundation, one of the content partners of LOV 2030. After a brief tour of the Park Abbey site, the jury members were introduced to the Alamire Foundation and its innovative research into plainchant and polyphony from the Low Countries in the Library of Voices. LOV 2030 also represents an important stepping stone for the Alamire Foundation in the further development of its high-tech laboratories and the use of state-of-the-art technology to make it accessible to the general public.
