Leuven Chansonnier
The Alamire Foundation is launching the new series Leuven Chansonnier in Perspective from Thursday 31 October onwards.
2024 marks the tenth year since the Leuven Chansonnier was discovered. It turned out to be a late-fifteenth-century songbook with Franco-Flemish polyphony by the most prominent composers of the time. A most exceptional discovery. However, after the long research and valorization process that the Alamire Foundation has already completed in recent years, the work on the Leuven Chansonnier has not yet been finalized. A large Strategic Research project funded by FWO has recently started.
As part of this project, the Alamire Foundation will launch the new series Leuven Chansonnier in Perspective from Thursday 31 October onwards. In 50 short documentaries, we will talk to international experts in search of answers to many questions in order to sketch a multifaceted picture of the chansonnier for a broad audience. The series will culminate in the prestigious exhibition on 600 years of KU Leuven at Museum M, opening on 9 October 2025, in which the Leuven Chansonnier will also take a prominent place. The new documentary series starts on Thursday—follow us every week on alamire.tv and on our other channels. You can catch a first gilmpse in the trailer above.
