Apr 26 2026

On Sunday 26 April, Flanders’ rich cultural heritage will once again take center stage during Heritage Day. The theme HAHA Humor explores how jokes and laughter can both build bridges and draw boundaries. As always, the Alamire Foundation highlights the musical heritage of the Low Countries.

In the run-up to Heritage Day, the campaign Humor in the Margins showcases the playful side of seemingly serious music manuscripts from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Starting on 2 April, we will feature bizarre illuminations, double‑edged texts, and clever instructions twice a week on our social media channels. So be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages!

Together with Leuven Orgelstad, we are also organizing two recitals at the House of Polyphony. Playing on several keyboard instruments from the Alamire Foundation’s collection, Marie Petit (co-advisor of the collection) will present a program full of charming and light‑hearted music. A unique opportunity to experience heritage and music with a nod and a wink!

  • Where: Hous of Polyphony (Abdij van Park 1, Heverlee)
  • Duration: c. 30 minutes
  • Maximum number of listeners per session: 40
  • Time: 15h30 and 16h30
