Vincenzo Borghetti, Storie di una chanson
On 8 October 2026, Vincenzo Borghetti (Univesità degli Studi di Verona) will present his new publication on Johannes Okeghem's Fors seulement during a public discussion at the House of Polyphony. In a dialogue with Nicolò Ferrari (Universität Zurich), he will be discussing the multifaceted approach of his research and new book.
As the title Storie di una ‘chanson’ suggests, the volume traces not a single history, but rather an interplay of stories linked to Fors seulement, focusing on the technical characteristics of the various compositions, their cultural, social, political, and ideological contexts, the media to which they were consigned, and the meanings they held for those who commissioned, composed, copied, used, listened to, and collected them. It also pays great attention to the long historiographical tradition of Fors seulement, discussing how and why the complex history of this rondeau and its reworkings was written, and reflecting on the ideas that have underpinned this history.
The book presentation will take place in the House of Polyphony on 8 October 2026 from 17.00-18.30. You can attend the discussion for free; no reservation is required.
