From 30 September to 3 October 2021, Mechelen will host its first Early Music Festival. The Alamire Foundation is contributing to this new initiative with a programme centred on the Mechelen Choirbook, which was copied around 1515 in the 'workshop’ of Petrus Alamire. It is the only Alamire manuscript still preserved in its original location in Mechelen. On Sunday 3 October, at 11am, our staff member Pieter Mannaerts will give a lecture on the Mechelen Choirbook in the Museum Hof van Busleyden. The lecture will be immediately followed by a concert by Park Collegium, with music by Matthaeus Pipelare and Pierre de la Rue, sung from the facsimile of this musical masterpiece that was recently published in the series Leuven Library of Music in Facsimile.
