On Wednesday 19 March, Bart Demuyt, General Director of the Alamire Foundation and member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts (KVAB), will lead the session entitled De Franco-Vlaamse polyfonie - Complexe meerstemmigheid en emoties in het werk van Du Fay en tijdgenoten as part of the KVAB Da Vinci Lectures series.

The focus lies on the research and valorization of polyphonic gems by fifteenth-century composers such as Du Fay, Ciconia, and Pullois, musicians whose roots can be traced back to our regions.

The lecture forms a bridge to the concert Guillaume Du Fay: Homo Universalis by the Huelgas Ensemble during the early music festival Voices of Passion, which, in the context of 600 years of KU Leuven, is completely dedicated to the sounding world of the (early) fifteenth century. Franco-Flemish polyphonists and performers dominated the musical discourse at that time: their work was sought after at the most important courts and religious institutions from the Low Countries to Italy and Central Europe. Discover the fascinating world of these leading 'polyphonic masters' during the lecture at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels.

Attending the lecture is free of charge, provided you register via the KVAB website.
